José Luis Gaitán was born under the Aquarian sign at 0:55 am, on February 9th. He studied comics and animation 2D with Carlos Ruiz Brussain; he completed his Higher Education at Nueva Escuela de Diseño y Comunicación where he obtained his degree as graphic publicity designer; he also studied animation (3D Studio MAX) at the same college; his training as comic book artist was a merge of professional workshops, reading, analysis and many hours of being sitting before the board.

He worked in sundry magazines in Argentina as author of specialized articles on animation, comics and videogames (he is a professed hardcore gamer); likewise, he illustrated covers and articles (Comiqueando, Gamestation, Xtrategas, etc.).

He worked (and still works) as freelancer graphic designer for different editorials, designing cover books (André Materon Ediciones, Editorial Dunken, Ediciones Iberia, etc.); he carried out specialized graphic works such as the graphics for a GPS made by Softron S.A., leaflets and CD covers for musical bands and audiobooks (En voz Alta, Dúo Avalos - Ayguavella, etc.), he was lately in charge of the image for Kakawa chocolate store and character design for Todoinfantil.

Taborda illustrated); said comic was edited in Argentina by Mutant Generation Comics (non-concluded) and by Deux Studio (complete); Babetool was published in Spain in Linemagazine but with José Luis Gaitán illustrating and writing; presently, he is preparing a new beggining for Babetool wtih a new we-comic. He created The Bahamut Trial; for Kool Comics of Denmark; in this work, he was the creator, writer and illustrator (the comic was unconcluded); for Tokio Pop, he illustrated the comic Kung Fu Bean for the Kung fu take out anthology, unique issue. Together with Federico Velasco (script) and the collaboration of Andrea Rodriguez (ink in some pages), he drew Kinara for Domus editorial; he keeps on working with his unit stories for the PPT Fanzine from Spain , yearly issue; he worked on two one shot for England, Revamp, with script of Scott Claringold; also, together with scriptwriter Shaun Conde, he drew the unit Wonderful Dreadful: A Corpsey Christmas; he decided to publish everything on web now, he was part of web magazine like No-Retornable, Blanco Experimental and El Webcomic. Beyond comics, illustration has always been an imaginative resource; out from the comic world he has created tarot cards, illustrations for bags and T-shirts for the young company Blix!, and ilustrator for Mita Zon´s books (such Qué es la drepresión?).

As a teacher, he is in charge of the comic and creative ilustration workshop at educational center Centro Cultural Rojas of University of Buenos Aires (U.B.A.) for the last four years.
